Writing and taking notes on a Kindle
Online word processors are too heavy for the Kindle browser. Something built for it works fine.
Notes and journal
KindleHub has notes with tags and a markdown journal. They save as you type, keep working offline once the page has loaded, and sync encrypted if you make an account.
The real limit: the keyboard
The on-screen keyboard is slow, and a Bluetooth keyboard will not pair on a stock Kindle. It suits notes, lists and first drafts rather than long documents.
Opening it on your Kindle
- On the Kindle, open the menu and choose Web Browser (on some models it is under Experimental or the … menu).
- Type kindlehub.pro into the address bar.
- Bookmark it. Nothing to install, no jailbreak, and a firmware update cannot break it.
Questions
Can you write on a Kindle?
Yes, for notes and drafts. Google Docs will not load, but notes apps built for the Kindle browser work.
Can I use a keyboard with a Kindle?
Not on stock firmware; the Kindle browser only takes the on-screen keyboard.
