How to play
Needs a computer, phone or tablet: the Kindle's own browser has no WebAssembly, which this engine is. The real DOOM (shareware Episode 1). Arrows walk and turn, the side arrows strafe, FIRE shoots, USE opens doors and presses switches, MENU opens the menu, 1-4 pick a weapon, MAP shows the automap. Hold RUN to run. It is a real-time game at 35 frames a second: play it on a colour screen if you can, it flashes on e-ink.
Like every game in KindleHub, DOOM is drawn once and only the parts that change are redrawn, so the e-ink screen does not flash between moves. It runs in the Kindle's built-in browser and in any phone, tablet or desktop browser.
How to open it on your Kindle
- On the Kindle, open the menu and choose Web Browser (on some models it is under Experimental or the … menu).
- Type kindlehub.pro into the address bar.
- Bookmark it. That is the whole setup: nothing to install, no jailbreak, and a firmware update cannot break it.
